Lots are small village lots on the original plat, and county records show several of them carrying vacated alley strips, meaning the original alley grid has been partly absorbed into private property. That changes side yard sightlines in a way no modern plat does: a neighbor's windows can sit closer and at an angle, compared with the 0.20 to 0.46 acre lots recorded in the subdivisions north of here. Houses front the original cardinal street grid rather than a curvilinear plat, so orientation is regular and predictable. Every west facing front room on one side of a street takes the same low afternoon sun on the same schedule, which is a genuine advantage when specifying a whole street face.
Measuring Old Bargersville and Union Village: assume nothing is square
